Apprentice Calgary Careers, Alstar is currently seeking Indentured Apprentice Pipefitters for numerous projects at various sites throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Successful candidates will have experience in the O&G Industry

Requirements

Reporting to the Site Foreman, the candidate will:

  • Show a proven commitment to Safety
  • Excellent communication, attitude, collaborative skills, and ability to follow directions
  • Experience completing Field Level Hazard Assessments
  • Ability to work out of town for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in inclimate weather conditions
  • Have knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards, knowledge of the functional operation and purpose of the various piping system components, and knowledge of the various sizes and grades of standard materials employed in an industrial plant
  • Inspect job sites to determine the presence of obstructions, plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and the activities of other crafts
  • Ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information from drawings and specifications
  • Measure and select type and size of pipe and related materials according to drawings and job specifications
  • Ability to measure accurately, layout work, cut, bevel, thread, and fit pipe
  • Assemble and install a variety of valves and fittings
  • Secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets, or hangers
  • Experience operating 1-ton picker trucks and standard pipefitting tools
  • Use and care for the tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial project
  • Acorn software experience is an asset
  • Other duties as assigned
