We are currently seeking experienced Boom Truck Operators at our branch in Ottawa, ON.

What will my day-to-day look like?

  • Operate articulated cable crane trucks to transport materials
  • Inspect loaded truck for accuracy, compliance with weight restrictions
  • Maintain accurate records for submission to Fleet Office
  • Loading and unloading materials on residential & commercial job sites
  • Follow safety policies and procedures while loading, traveling and on the job, sites are essential in this role.
  • Ensuring safety and security
  • Use GPS, atlases, and other trip planning
  • Daily inspections and overseeing the condition of the truck on a daily basis (Follow a daily pre-trip inspection list)
  • Oversee condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment
  • This can be a seasonal or permanent position that offers competitive wages, health, dental, life insurance, and an RRSP collective plan.

What are the requirements?

  • Hold a valid Crane & Hoisting Certificate, Class 3 driver’s license with air brake (Q endorsement)
  • Driver’s license (Class A) with air brake (Z) endorsement and valid crane operator certificate
  • Valid crane certificate to operate cranes up to 20 tons.
  • Forklift Operator and/or Fall Arrest certification will be an asset
  • The candidate must be able to drive both manual & automatic trucks.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence between truck and branch throughout the day.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

What will give me an edge over other applicants?

  • 1 year previous Boom Truck / Crane Operating experience.
  • Experience with building products/warehouse
  • Forklift Operator and/or Fall Arrest certification.

Beacon Roofing Supply Canada, Groupe Bédard division, is currently seeking to fill, for its Quebec City branch, a position of Articulated Crane Driver / Operator in Shingle (Knuckleboom) or Gypsum (wallboard).
