Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

At Stripe, you’ll be part of a rich Data Science community for Analysts, Scientists and Engineers to learn and grow together. At the same time, our embedded org structure means that you’ll be working closely with our partner teams in Engineering and Operations.

What you’ll do

Stripe has millions of users around the world who rely on our infrastructure to run their businesses. Our Operations Applied Machine Learning team is a cross-functional group of data scientists, analysts, engineers, and Operations team members who work together to bring efficiency and a better user experience to our users. This group has a particular focus on how Large Language Models (LLMs) can unlock new efficiencies. We are looking for a Data Scientist to join this team. This role carries an opportunity for highly impactful and uniquely measurable effects on the business. If this sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you!

  • Use LLMs to enhance both efficiency and user experience throughout our Operations workflows. Examples:
    • Build out our efforts to use LLMs to translate cases from global users
    • Integrate LLM-based responses into our support workflows, such as by giving suggested responses to agents
    • Use LLMs to improve our search functionality for users to find self-serve content on our Support Site
  • Recognize that ML and LLMs are not the solution to every problem, and look for opportunities for improvements to our workflows that don’t require models
  • Act as a project leader; collaborate effectively with other data scientists, analysts, engineers, and Operations team members

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

  • 5+ years experience working with and analyzing large data sets to solve problems
  • A PhD or MS in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Sciences, Economics, Engineering, CS)
