The Data Engineering team in Uplift is building up the next-generation data lake on Databricks to support all data use cases, ranging from business intelligence to machine learning operations. We use a lot of industry-leading technologies like Spark, Delta Lake, and ML Flow. We are hiring Senior Data Engineers to use these technologies to build infrastructure and a data platform for all the business functions.

What you will do and achieve

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines in cloud infrastructure (AWS)
  • Build Python libraries, serverless applications, and workflows
  • Experience building and optimizing Spark jobs
  • Working knowledge of API or stream based data extraction
  • Review core Data Engineering processes and propose a more scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solution
  • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams to develop holistic technical solutions
  • Work with upstream producers and help them define a formal data model for their domains
  • Human-In-The-Loop workflow orchestration for Business stakeholders such that they can control parameters and trigger reporting/analytics job
  • Build dimensional models for various entities for our business – identify which entity producers work with, and how to use them within data platforms
  • Actively engage in design and code reviews to improve code structure and architecture with a focus on testability and maintainability – learn from your peers and teach your peers
  • Lead initiatives to research, analyze, and propose new technologies and tooling for our tech stack

Who you are

  • 5+ years of work related experience
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, CS, or equivalent, Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience with Big Data, ETL and data modeling
  • Experience with AWS cloud services: S3, Kinesis, RDS, DMS, Lambda, ECS
  • Solid coder with Python, Bash and SQL
  • Experience in developing and operating high-volume, high-available and scalable environments
  • Ability to align with rapid business changes: new requirements, ambiguity, evolving goals and strategies and technological advancements
  • Entrepreneurial, persistent, with the desire to go deep in details and take ownership of projects
  • Comfortable working in a startup culture with the ability to earn trust
  • Possess interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals and best practices

At Uplift, in accordance with the U.S pay transparency laws across various states, we provide the minimum and maximum pay range for each of our levels. This reflects the minimum and maximum ranges for new hire salaries. There are two ranges that reflect positions across all US locations. The first range includes: New York and California whereas the second range includes all other US states. Within each range, there are several different factors that are considered when determining compensation including but not limited to the candidate’s location, title, years of experience, job related skills and relevant education. In addition to the base salary, we offer competitive benefits including medical, dental and vision and pre-ipo stock options.
