We are currently recruiting for a Climate Risk and Adaptation Project Manager who will ensure the successful delivery of the climate risk projects and will plan, coordinate, and organize technical work on several tasks or projects.

ch, the individual will develop and implement effective strategies to assist our clients to identify and quantify climate risk to their business and analyze adaptation strategies available to manage these risks, across the mining, energy, and infrastructure industry. This role reports to the Director, of Climate Change and could be positioned in any of our offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Tucson, Lima, Santiago, and Belo Horizonte.

About the role

  • Manage climate-risk projects from proposal generation to the delivery of quality reports on time and on budget.
  • Lead the project delivery team and communicate clear objectives for the team in order to achieve project goals that meet clients’ requirements.
  • Develop tools, methodologies and procedures for physical and transitional climate-related risk assessment to assist clients’ needs and opportunities.
  • Facilitate the climate-related hazard, vulnerability and exposure identification process and link the identified adaptation opportunities to strategic organizational goals.
  • Manage and develop climate-related disclosure reports aligned with main leading frameworks (e.g., TCFD, CDP, SASB, GRI, and others).
  • Assure the project is delivered safely on time and on budget and that it results in high levels of satisfaction for the client.
  • Track and report performance against deliverables and lead initiatives that correct negative deviations away from the plan.
  • Lead meetings and workshops with clients.
  • Contribute to business development activities with current and new clients.

About you

  • Holds a master’s degree in sustainability, environment, climate change, climate economics, climate adaptation, engineering, geography or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, gaining knowledge in the area of climate risk and adaptation.
  • Possess strong understanding climate models, databases, projections, climate change regulations, GHG accounting guidelines, carbon market developments, climate adaptation strategies.
  • Experience in the mining, energy or infrastructure industry.
  • Working knowledge of climate risk assessment frameworks, such as the PIEVC Protocol, Climate Lens Guidance, and ISO 31000.
  • Understanding of TCFD and TNFD.
  • Experience in biodiversity management and support of natural infrastructure as an adaptation measure will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of carbon markets, and carbon-related products, including carbon offsets and credits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Fluency in both English and Spanish would be ideal)
  • Completion of a professional designation or relevant accreditation will be an asset (e.g., GARP SCR, ENV SP)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and recommend creative solutions to challenge technical issues.
  • Proven ability to lead others to accomplish common goals.
  • Excellent understanding of project budgets and P&L.
  • Excellence in interpersonal, relationship building and leadership skills with a dedication to developing lasting client partnerships, both internally and externally, with exceptional client care and service delivery skills.
  • Willingness to travel for project work when required.
