Responsibilities

Bell Media’s Crave SVOD service is seeking a highly organized, knowledgeable TV and movie aficionado with digital experience to join our Programming team. The role of the Programming Assistant encompasses many duties to support the day-to-day functioning of the SVOD service with a focus on building and scheduling programming in the CMS, content merchandising, and inventory tracking for STARZ.

  • Working in the video/metadata CMS (Axis) to build and schedule programming, source metadata, and upload artwork.
  • Drafting and delivery of SVOD schedules for STARZ to internal teams and external partners.
  • Merchandising of STARZ programming across internal Crave platforms and external partner platforms (Amazon Prime Channels, Apple Channels, BDUs) across a myriad of themed and temporary collections.
  • Distribute STARZ programming and schedules to channel partners Amazon and Apple, and Crave programming to Air Canada for in-flight entertainment.
  • Set up and schedule FOD (free on demand) programming samples on BDU and digital partner platforms.
  • Monitor and help troubleshoot merchandising and content display issues within the Crave site and apps, and partner platforms.  Some after-hours content troubleshooting is required.
  • Contribute ideas to help inform merchandising, SEO, and timely collection additions to Crave.
  • Helping to maintain and report from a programming inventory file.
  • Tracking of competitor programming.
  • Liaison with other Bell Media Programming teams, Operations (SVOD, Digital Media Control), Marketing, D2C Marketing, Communications, and the digital product team.
  • Other duties to be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for and a strong knowledge of movies, TV, and pop culture both past and present.  STARZ is primarily a library movie service, so someone with an encyclopedic knowledge of movies from the 80s through today would be a tremendous asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian film is strongly desired.
  • A keen interest in and knowledge of the Canadian OTT and traditional TV landscape is an asset.
  • The role requires very strong attention to detail and exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
  • Must work well under pressure, possess excellent time management skills, be a self-starter, multi-tasker and have the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Adept at learning new systems/software in a fast-changing environment.
  • Knowledge of AXIS (video/metadata CMS) is a huge asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (especially Excel).
  • 1-2 years of experience in TV/movie programming or a related digital content position is required.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in TV, film or digital media is preferred.
