Senior Graphic Design Jobs in Chicago, The Senior Graphic Designer role will bring creative vision, visual storytelling, and project management skills to design and execute print and digital solutions that adhere to the firm’s visual identity system and brand standards in support of the firm’s internal and external initiatives.

Examples of such materials include, but are not limited to, marketing collateral, newsletters/publications, interactive reports, branded templates, event materials, advertisements, web/social graphics, infographics, and various other internal or external client deliverables.

Reporting to the Manager of Brand & Creative Services, this individual is part of a national team and collaborates with a core group of designers, marketing team members, administrative groups, lawyers, vendors, and other external resources to offer creative and innovative visual solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Bring creative vision and visual storytelling skills to propose, plan, design, and develop print and digital solutions. Examples of such materials include, but are not limited to, marketing collateral, newsletters/publications, interactive reports, branded templates, event materials, advertisements, web/social graphics, infographics, and various other internal or external client deliverables.
  • As part of the firm’s communications team, reporting to the Manager, Brand & Creative Services, must understand the strategy and objectives behind complex design projects and provide appropriate solutions with minimal supervision and art direction.
  • Detail-oriented with an excellent eye for design to produce high-quality, creative concepts in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Independently and collaboratively provide creative, innovative solutions to enhance the firm’s visual brand for internal and external initiatives.
  • Provide design review and process guidance to other design team and department members when necessary
  • As a steward of the firm’s visual identity system, employ knowledge of guidelines and ensure standards are adhered to across all firm-related materials. Ensure consistent application of the firm’s visual identity brand standards relying on experience and solid judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Contribute to overall best practices and creative service offerings.
  • Advice on firm materials and templates (both internal and external) to ensure they are consistent with the firm’s visual identity system and industry standards without sacrificing creativity and innovation.
  • Recommend updates to creative design policies, guidelines, and procedures based on research of industry trends.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Brand & Creative Services, to manage the intake of new design project requests and coordinate the assignment of projects.
  • Schedule, conduct and participate in initial kick-off meetings to discuss project scope and production schedules; maintain ongoing communication with team members and project leads from concept to completion of the request, taking ownership and responsibility of assigned projects.
  • Proven experience with design and production processes working within an established brand, as well as with typography, color, and layout.
  • Proactively research and recommend new design techniques, software, and tools when appropriate.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and remain current in industry trends by attending design workshops/training; reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field required
  • A minimum of five (5) years of graphic design experience in agency, in-house, or corporate experience is required; prior law firm or professional services experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud platform (including InDesign, Photoshop, Spark, and Illustrator), and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Knowledge of motion and video production (After Effects, Premiere Pro) is a plus
  • General understanding of HTML, UX/UI design
  • General editing and proofreading capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Mac/PC computers and printers, with excellent technical problem-solving skills
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of printing and pre-press production processes
